I've been watching Game of Thrones again because, you know, the final season is coming out in April and I wanted to make sure that I understand what is going. I'm happy that I've been watching it because it makes a lot more sense. For some reason, I have had the House Greyjoy's saying (or whatever they call it) in my head. "What is dead must never die." I think I have been trying to figure out what it means because to me it doesn't make any sense.
Anyway this got me thinking about the mantra of my life right now and came up with one that isn't as catchy but makes a lot more sense to me: What's done is done. I came up with this because as a Libra I am constantly wondering if I made the right decisions. Then it hit me. What's done is done! I realized that after I make a decision and go through with it, it has to be the correct one because I can't change it and there is no point in worrying about it. I just need to move forward and if I feel like I could made a better choice then I need to learn from that to make better choices in the future.
I know, I know this seems like something that I should've learned when I was twelve and I probably did but I have never fully put it into action. I started putting this mantra into action. When I find myself dwelling on my past actions I am instantly cued to say to myself "What's done is done." You would believe how freeing this has been for me.
So no matter how silly a mantra may seem, I challenge you to come up with something that is easy to remember and to say to yourself when you are stressed and see if it helps to relieve your stress as much as it did mine.
